Curriculum: Catharsis Application Program Psycho-Emotional Therapy Training
Training is intended for mental health professionals such as psychiatrist, psychologist, psychotherapist, counselor, marriage and family therapist, social worker, psychiatrist nurse, student with at least a bachelor in psychology. This training is also appropriate for care centers and organizations. CAP CEUs provides education and CEUs for: Phd, PsyD, LPC, LMHC, LMFT and LCSW, LCAC, PMHNP To become a CAP Facilitator each professional should be licensed in their profession for independent practice Completion of the training Level 1 and provide CAP therapy service with a minimum of 3 clients in the first year are required. In addition, each practitioner will need to provide a written case study on a client who completed the CAP process The first client will be supervised by the founder herself who will provide the final assessment. Subsequent final assessment will be supervised by a CAP specialist in the interpretation of the drawing An Online Program for Anywhere Training After years of experience, we have developed a very effective online training program that respects your pace, while allowing you to integrate information, over a period of weeks. We offer monthly webinar that help you stay effective in your learning process. We provide a proven and uniquely efficient learning experience and will be here to guide you through every step of your journey with the Catharsis Application Program. CAP Training is offered Online and in person The training is in English. We train individuals and groups. Online: for those practitioners who prefer working from home, this opportunity to access our courses online allow them to access videos to work at their own pace and be interacting on regular basis with an instructor and other participants. This allows the practitioner to have a valuable and comprehensive training without the need to travel, except for the In-person internship days. HOW IT WORKS You are assigned a CAP Trainer who will follow you throughout the program You receive a 1-hour, one-on-one, online interview with your CAP Trainer. They will explain the basics of the program and how the training works. Receive by mail a CAP drawing kit Experience a program utilizing musical induction and artistic mediation with therapeutic value for the private practice or a healthcare institution Receive a personal assessment based on your drawings created during the experiential training Each training is split into several modules with an evaluation upon completion of each unit. This allows you to fully integrate each step of the process before moving on. Feel free to ask your CAP trainer for answers to any questions or to clarify any doubts you may have about the process Receive a written manual with procedures and protocols Receive all the documentation needed for the program: consent forms, scales of evaluation, policies, procedures Once the online sessions have been completed, you will have another 1-hour, one-on-one interview with your CAP trainer or a professional coach to help you set up your own session. to help you establish your own individualized practice with CAP, according to your vision. You will be given comprehensive instructions that provides all the information needed to implement the program with your clients/patients Tell us how many artwork kits you need for your therapeutic session. Training Objectives The Catharsis Application Program is a psycho–emotional therapy based on an Artistic Mediation Therapy. This intensive training allows the trainees to acquire the information needed to implement the program effectively in practice. Fundamental Training - CAP Practitioner - Level 1 A theoretical and practical knowledge needed to organize well-structured therapeutic sessions with graphic expression under musical induction. The basics of drawing interpretation will be discussed. Advanced Training - CAP Practitioner & Interpreter - Level 2 An in depth analysis of data collected during drawing sessions and discussion of psychotherapeutic intervention based on the analysis that emphasizes the importance of emotional healing. CAP Trainer - Level 3 A theoretical and practical knowledge to become a CAP trainer. The 3 levels of training are offered online. Flexible schedule is offered. This allows you to work at your own pace and at the times that are convenient for you. Training is also offered in person.
CAP Training Courses FUNDAMENTAL TRAINING  CAP PRACTITIONER TRAINING Level 1 Number of modules: 3 — Hours of training: 48h The training takes place over several months so that trainees can gradually and sustainably integrate the content, learn the protocols, adapt them to their practices, and gain flexibility, confidence, and assurance in using the method. Designed for any mental health therapist to incorporate the Catharsis Application Program (CAP) into daily practice without the need to be an art or music therapist. CAP is suitable for use with children, adolescents, and adults. CAP is person-centered, individual, and a gentle therapeutic tool. CAP belongs to the field of experiential therapies such as: Accelerated Experience Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), Affect Phobia Therapy (APT), Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP), EMDR, Psychodrama, Expressive Arts Therapy. Offered online and in person. Certification: CAP Practitioner, Level 1. Requires 7 hours of continuing education every two years and a one written patient case study of someone who completed CAP. A - Experiential sessions - 26 hours: starting in September of each year for 19 months 12 weekly sessions to experience the CAP program and receive a personalized final assessment by a CAP practitioner. This step is essential to understand what is mobilized in each person during the graphic expression sessions with musical induction. These sessions are done in groups and online. The assessment is individual. B - Course #1 - Theoretical basics - 12 hours: This course explores the role of psycho-emotional therapies that use art as a medium. It clarifies the role of music, drawing, and painting in emotional expression and teaches the fundamentals of the concept of catharsis.
It is offered in the form of lectures and videos and ends with a group session to review what has been learned. C - Course #2 - Specific features of the CAP program - 12 hours: This course describes the CAP process and its therapeutic function, as well as the symbolic and mobilizing function of drawing induced by listening to specific music. 
It is offered in the form of lectures and videos and ends with a group session to study the characteristics of the CAP program. D - Course #3 - Detailed procedures - 14 hours: This course describes all the protocols for individual, couple, and group sessions with a variety of audiences. It is offered in the form of lectures and videos and ends with a group session for role-playing exercises. E - In-person internship - 1 day of 7 hours: This internship allows trainees to meet, not only to reinforce what they have learned, but also to potentially form bonds so they can help each other. F - Completing the CAP Program with one client - 24 hours: During this phase, trainees apply the complete CAP program with one of their clients, under the supervision of their trainer. G - Course #4 - Theoretical training in drawing analysis - 28 hours: Based on drawings made by the trainees' clients, this online course provides an introduction to the analysis and interpretation of drawings. It includes learning the criteria for identifying the expression of depression, burnout, inhibitions, trauma, and grief in graphic productions. During this phase, trainees also learn how to offer an individual assessment and develop a personalized therapeutic plan, if necessary. H - In-person internship - 1 day of 7 hours: During this internship, each participant prepares a case study and presents it to the other participants.
ADVANCED TRAINING  CAP DRAWING ANALYSIS Level 2 Number of modules: 3 — Hours of training: 96h An extension of the CAP Practitioner Training for those professionals who want to become an expert CAP drawing analysis. Certification: CAP Practitioner and Interpreter, Level 2. Requires 7 hours of continuing education every two years and a one written patient case study about someone who completed CAP.
MODULE 1 14 hours Introduction to interpretation of projective test. Navigation of the observational grids is examined. Case studies are presented for review. MODULE 2 46 hours Continues examining the interpretation and analysis of drawings and comments. Designing a final report, which generates an informative and structure analysis for the client. Case studies are presented for review. MODULE 3 36 hours This module examines the completed synthesis: communicating the analysis to clients and professionals. Discussion on working effectively with different age groups (children, adolescents, adults and seniors) and medical conditions with communication challenges. Case studies are presented for review.
CAP TRAINER  Level 3 Number of modules: 1 — Hours of training: 42h For those who have completed both CAP Practitioner and Drawing Analysis Training, and who want to train others. Certification: CAP Trainer, Level 3. Renewable every two years. Trainer is expected to participate in a yearly refresher course to renew skills and keep up to date with advancement in research and application of the CAP methodology. Only those professional who have successfully completed CAP Practitioner and Drawing Analysis Training are eligible for CAP Trainer certification. The goal of this training is to strengthen the theoretical and practical skills of a certified CAP Facilitator to become a Certified CAP Practitioner. Those interested in becoming a trainer must express a desire and commitment to share their knowledge with fellow practitioners through teaching. Participants will be given an instruction manual on how to conduct training sessions. Discussion will include how to structure CAP Training level 1 and level 2 and how to effectively communicate the complexity of the protocol to professionals. Each practitioner will bring to the group a complete set of drawings and comments submitted by one of his/her clients as well as their interpretation and assessment. Each case study is examined by the instructor who provides insight and constructive feedback on the analysis. Each practitioner will construct an individualized treatment plan for a case study provided by the instructor. Only those practitioners who have completed this training will get a certificate from The Orpheus Institute allowing them, under conditions set by contract, to be Catharsis Application Program Certified Trainer. This certificate is to be renewed every two years to ensure that the CAP method is being taught according to proper protocol and the trainer has complied with Catharsis Application Program ethics. Each CAP Trainer is expected to participate in a yearly refresher course to renew their skills and keep up to date with advancement in research and application of the CAP methodology.
